“Sometimes I just want to sail away. Get on a big ship, with nothing but the clothes on my back and a wish and sail away from this place. All of the duty, the kingdom, marriage, it is completely overwhelming and I wish that for once I was just not me.”
Elle breathed a sigh, her auburn hair catching a small breeze from where she leaned upon one of the half walls just outside her room, eyes forever attached to the ocean. It was a rumor that her eyes were reflections of the ocean and that is why they constantly changed its shade of blue, changing on her moods as if they were the ocean tides.Lia her best friend and long time lady in waiting picked up a comb and started to comb through Elle’s hair. This conversation wasn’t the first of it’s kind and most certainly not the last, but everyone had a duty. It was how this world worked. WIthout it, the organization and order would be lost.
“Elle, please don’t be rash. You wouldn’t betray your family or your betrothed for a whim such as this. I know you better than this.” Lia spoke, as she began weaving a braided pattern into Elle’s Auburn strands.
“You are right, Lia. I wouldn’t. I would do everything I could to keep this kingdom safe. As well as everyone else. And if that means marrying and having children so that what is ours can continue to stay strong, then I will.”
